I've been naughty...

well at least I feel naughty. I just have to say that I have not been around here because I haven't felt like it.  Not that I don't love those of you who pop by to visit me and I wasn't even here to say hello when you did. I feel like I have been on a journey....

Where you ask? Where have I gone. "Here and there" I say. Mostly there I guess. What can I say, I am fickle. I go where the wind blows me and lately it has been away from the computer, the internet, etc. I often wonder how so many people seem to find the time to have kids, jobs, successful blogs and Facebook pages, post enough things to keep people interested and manage to keep there houses clean too! I guess I just started to feel overwhelmed. I had so many things that I wanted to do, things that needed to be done around the house. Bike rides to take and walks with hubby.

It is so easy to get caught up in social networks, there seems to be new ones all the time. You just feel this stress... the need to keep things fresh and keep it coming. It is sometimes this delicate balancing act and it is hard to perform. I have a few things on the go right now. A collection of mixed media acrylics, some e-courses, yes e-courses (mixed-media, water-colour and photoshop). So much to do so little time and only so much sleep you can skip hahaha......and laundry.

All I can do is be me. The way that I am.

Sharon's- Off With Her Head!

It's Sharon--
the delinquent Prairie Fairy Design Team Member
late with my tutorial
and I bet Corry and Roberta
are about to shout
"Off With Her Head!"
I can't blame them a bit!
But maybe-just maybe
if my post & project makes them
SMILE
they will grant me a reprieve?

Let's give it a try!
For today's project--
which, I give credit where credit is due,
THE PRAIRIE FAIRY HERSELF
posted some time back...
this is merely my take on her idea...

First, you need to make an easel card---
I gotta say-I've tried twice today to do the steps and photos myself-
it's just not working so--go here
if you don't know how to make the easel base card.

Once you have that done, come back here and I will show
you what I did next.
Go ahead. I'll wait...
Ready?

You want to pick an image
and I chose
I colored her with my Copics...
and then I cut her head off!

GASP!
No-wait-I meant to do that---really...!
Watch---next we put it back on...!
Close to My Heart has come out with these great
ADHESIVE SPRINGS...
I simply put one on the back of Gillian's head
lined it up on my card so her chin came just below the cut line
on her neck...

and Viola!
Her head's back on!
Looks cute---but that still photo---
well-it just doesn't give it the "WOW" value
this idea really has...
let's give it some
CAMERA-LIGHTS-ACTION, BABY!

See--isn't she ADORABLE?!
But wait---we can make it better
Up close and personal....
That's actually my goddaughter's head---
on Gillian's body!
How'd I do it?
I used Microsoft Publisher
(but any photo editing software will work...)
to crop a photo of her so I just had her head,
then enlarged it so it would look bigger than Gillian's body
(just the way Roberta drew Gillian!),
cut it out & attached it just like I did Gillian's head!
Too, too funny!
I cannot wait to do
I have lots of heads to add to him
as our "after our wedding" family pics were taken
at the beach--all the guys--had sunglasses on...
I know what theme birthday cards are gonna be this year!

Here's another tip---
want instant "sand" for your beach themed cards?
Simply mix 2/3 gold microbeads with 1/3 silver microbeads!
Perfect instant beach!
Liquid Glass holds them on great by the way...

So--
tell me---ya think Roberta and Corry will let me keep my head?
I hope so!
Until next time
(and yes, I will TRY to be on time!)
Happy stamping and scrapping!
Blessings,
Sharon

Christines Flowering Tree!

I do apologize for being tardy with our tutorial this week!
Time has gotten away from me!

This week Christine has a FANTABULOUS creation to share!
Just check it out and be inspired!

***************************************************

Hello, this is Christine and this is again my turn to offer you a tutorial here at Prairie Fairy Design.

This time, I suggest you do a flowering tree, I hope it will amuse you as much as me.

 Matériels nécessaire

Papier crépon
Epingle
quelques fleurs

 materials necessary

crepe paper
Pin
A polystyrene ball
a straw
Punch round or template
1 cup (I got a mac do cup)
A piece of paper
tulle
some flowers

Cut five rounds in the crepe paper with your drill or your template.

Superimpose your 5 round and bite your pin in the center of your round.

Bring your first round on your pin in the crumpling. Repeat the operation with subsequent rounds to get this.

Each petal smooth turns and format your flower.

Prick your flower in your ball and repeat until no room left. You can, like me, of insert both as do all other flowers.

Once your ball filled with flowers, make a hole so you can insert your straw. Put a little glue.

Dress up your straw with a piece of tape and then insert your straw in the lid of the cup and put a little glue to keep it straight.

Decorate with tulle the rest of your lid and cover your goblet with your paper.

Decorate as desired the cup and add a few butterflies in your flowering tree.

Well,
I hope you enjoyed my project!
Looking forward to seeing you around the
Prairie Fairy playground again soon!
Until next time,
happy stamping and scrapping!

Hugs

Christine

I've been around....

You just couldn't see me. For those of  you who are not facebooking, you would not have known that I had been very ill. Prior to that, very consumed with life, other things. Sorry for being an absentee..... stamp designer? LOL. Good news is, I am on the mend. More good news is I have my lovely Tutorial DT posting all these wonderful tutorials for you to see, WOW! Aren't they amazing!

I am trying very hard to get a few new images out, which brings me to explain the latest one. Gillian's boyfriend never did get a name...... Oh well. Eventually, all in good time right? He got me thinking, about Dillan and Emily, Gillian and Lewis' younger siblings. I decided that Dilly needed to not be a baby anymore, and he is not bald like Lewis (He is gonna be so jealous). He is also a bit older now too. Emily will be as well, once I have a few of her done too you will see. For now though, cheeky little Dillian has a gift for you and I couldn't decide if he was over his nee nee yet or not (nee nee's in our house is a soother!) so, I threw in one with and one without. I also threw in a few sentiments per my dear  DT leader for the FFF team (Terry)'s request.

Dilly's Frog is in the shop now.

Stay tuned, more new announcements to come.

Happy Easter everyone!

Hannah is digitally INKING!

Hannah is back with another AMAZING digital editing idea that will knock your socks off!

**********************************

Welcome to another digital tutorial at the Prairie Fairy Stamp Blog!  Today I used the Pilot Gillian digital stamp by Prairie Fairy Designs as my main embellishment.

One thing that held me back for so long with digital scrapbooking, is I really liked the look of the traditional pages I was making.  More specifically, I liked the depth and dimension I could create on a traditional page.  One of the most basic ways I use to get that look is to ink the edges of the papers that I use.   After playing around in Photoshop for a while, I found a way to get the same look!  This isn't the only way to make it happen, but it's quick and easy!

The program I'm using is Photoshop CS5.

So I'm going to show you how to "ink" the edges of this piece of paper.

We're going to use the Burn Tool.  You'll find it on the toolbar on the left.  I have mine set to 58% Exposure

The tool will look like a circle.  You just run the mouse along the edge of your paper.  You can see the difference here where I have just run it along the top of the page.

Finish burning the edges of all your papers.  The nice thing about using the burn tool as opposed to a brush is that you don't have to worry about changing the colour.  The burn tool just darkens what's there.  Now, go back to the full page view and have a look at the balloons.  I gave them more dimension by using the burn tool around the ovals!
